On this page I will be discussing talking about the opportunities i have taken over this semester to get myself out there as well as improving myself for after university.

Destiny stream and casting opportunity

To give quick run down of this event is that a special event is released and players have 24 hours to try and for for world first which is to complete the event first second and third and then past it is to complete it within the 24 hour the point in my little role in this it commentate over them with others and talk about there performance and keep the people watching the team live on twitch entertained.

The semester started off quite quickly with an opportunity I was approached by a friend who I work with at ember who is in e sports that there is a big opportunity to help cast a professional destiny 2 raid stream he knew I was passionate about destiny and asked if i wanted to help out I was very eager but nervous to accept the offer but I somewhat was kind of added to all of the the discussions and chats and given an email link of where to go the date times and who to speak to so i thought I might as well do it.

So once i retrieved this I was in I did a little bit of research on the raid and previous raid at this point it is worth mentioning I play a lot of destiny and I was very passionate about this raid but I am not a raid player so I knew quite a lot about the game and current story events the important stuff but the raid i was a bit out of the loop so i watched some raids and watched some casting on raids before the day.

The day came around I went to the location which was the very fancy e sports hub on the Staffordshire university campus where I was given a sheet on how everything would go down how long it could go on for the different roles needed.

Once the sheet was handed out we then had to be put into shifts in which we put with different people and they would be our co host while we where in front of the camera behind the desk doing live commentary.  We was also categorised into different colours based on the amount of knowledge of the game casting in general if we was a guest or part of the course.

The stream was to go on for 24 hours i had 5 shifts and i was very excited but incredibly nervous. We had one of the esports rooms as a room where we could rest sleep do work watch the current progress of the the raid itself.

My first shift came up it was quite nerve wracking I let my two other hosts really do a lot of the talking I was really quiet I tried to speak up quite a bit but I was with two professionals even an esports tutor on the first shift so I felt comfortable if I did not speak as much.

On my second shift I went really hard as i was in the middle so when the cameras cut to the commentators I was in the centre I Gave it my it my all. I even had a person who I really got on with well when talking about the game the mechanics the way the players where going about the different encounters they had to deal with.

The person on the right is my good friend who told me about this and pushed me to do this he was overseeing the event he set up the majority of it in terms of all the graphics transitions visuals. This is where the event went a little bit down hill for the players they multiple troubles trying to get anything to start in the game from the beginning they where plagued by little issues that built up and broke there confidence in completing certain encounters throughout the raid. it really started to fall apart for the team when first second and third was claimed and then as time passed it was on the level of the first 100 then first 200 teams to complete in 24 hours we where 12 hours in and the streaming team where started to lose faith we kept pushing but then at a certain point they said that everyone could go and that it was just gonna be ran by the main crew for the rest of the 24 hours it was a really good experience but i decided to stick about for an extra couple of hours to talk to the people and my friend who gave me the chance meeting more people making more contacts I have also been invited to other esports streams and will always be welcome if I am about to do destiny stream content.

Overall a really fun night met lots of different people and got try something I never thought I would do it built confidence within me to also push myself as a a person I spoke to a few about how I am an artist and I would be willing to lend my skills if they ever needed them of course I would have to build up my own confidence as an artist.

Destiny sketch and taking advantage of hype

Another destiny related thing I did was with the release of the brand new expansion for destiny which the whole raid and stream thing was related to I did a destiny piece just a simple black and white sketch of the main villain of the expansions story i noticed a lot of the destiny community was drawing her and everyone was really enjoying all the art of her since it has been some time since destiny had a good well written villain within its story.
This was my piece I uploaded it before going to bed and woke up to around 30 likes within a couple hours shows that of course tags but when something is really been spoke or has discussion or hype around it drawing or doing a piece around it is usually a good way to bank on it. It proves the point that if you want grow your presence on social media with art drawing stuff that is popular or current even if you don't follow it yourself always worth keeping an eye on the times within media fandoms shows etc.

Another situation like this was when the anime movie jujutsu kaisen 0 came out in uk cinemas I did a piece on it the day it dropped after going to see it to celebrate its a launch.

Working with an artist

So over the semester I have been working with and talking to an artist it is a previous graduate student but we have been talking about working on writing and drawing a doing comics maybe revisiting some of my older work. This all stemmed when I explaining an idea for a dungeon and dragons character to him like explaining the design the role they played there special ability gender everything then without asking a couple hours later he returned to me sending me an image of what I had explained to him this made me think consider maybe I had a bit of strength within writing and imagining characters and information.

So for this I explained a witch character who doesn't engage in combat but has a powerful knight spirit that is attached to her that does the fighting and always defends her in combat she is more a support for him as well as a burden to the demon knight.

As well as this he went over a redid a character I developed last semester for my last comic which came out really nice. I really like the way his style fits with my characters.

We have been recently talking about redoing one of my older comics it gives me a chance to rewrite it properly and give it the love it truly deserves as well as working with an artist and truly allow me to experience working with and artist and the trials and obstacles we may encounter. Especially since his original stance was he would charge me if I really wanted him to work on a story of mine but if he found something passionate he would happily work with me and he has which is all cool.

Bloodline x

Over Easter while working on my university comic to take a break from that I have been writing my idea for something that I may fully write out and maybe even produce as a project for after university or even something I could use as an idea for masters if I wanted to do one of them which has been in high consideration over this semester.

People use there blood to fight and all there powers depend on personality and there blood type would be interesting to research different types the rarer the type the more powerful the ability. Your ability manifests whenever your at critical moment in your life stress anger pain happiness. Most abilities are nothing too special with common blood types to the point u may just think you run faster or are better than something than someone else but with rarer blood it gets more prominent to the point where the ability of someone with a blood type of 1% among humans would have some insane shit. Ofc rarer blood types and that your abilities only manifest at critical moments most humans don't even know. It mainly manifests at high stress moments so it more appears in stressed students hard working jobs criminals and victims of crime and politicians  etc most people will awaken cause life is naturally stressful has many lows but because of the the common types it just seems like nothing.

This is just some of the basics I have a lot more written down and this will be a pet project after university or masters.

Little summary

There is a lot i wanted to do this semester or improve but I felt like overall i still pushed myself i feel a bit more positive on what I want to do past university or in further education. I feel like taking the initiative with a lot of stuff like the class fund raising really helped been part of the bridge between the ember lounge and comic arts course working with e sports to push something i wouldn't think I would enjoy and be a little passionate about. Figuring out what I may wanna improve on and really capitalise on such as writing and working with artists while still trying to practise my own artwork.
